Online workshop hosted by Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz
October 30, 2024, 10:00 – 12:30 (CET)
After completing their studies or graduating, researchers at an early stage in the career often face an important decision they have to tale. Is it possible continue in research with their specific degree? Are they prepared for ca career in academia knowing that early-stage positions might be unstable? What options exist outside of academia, and do they align with their goals? Or, am they open to a different path, where instead of conducting research themselves, they would support researchers and institutions by managing research-related tasks, becoming a valuable partner in research management? This workshop provides insights to the work and training offers of Europe’s most important association for research managers and administrators EARMA, and sheds light on developments in Italy and Poland. In addition, a top-level expert in research management will present his own career path while addressing challenges and opportunities along the way. The workshop seeks to demonstrate that a career in research management should not be viewed as a fallback option, but rather as a valuable opportunity to unlock diverse professional pathways. This perspective is equally relevant for early-career researchers and individuals exploring a career change.
