26.03.2026 - 10:00 - 12:00 CET
The Event is jointly hosted by University of Latvia in Riga and Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz
The training explores how European research collaboration can be understood, designed, and strategically embedded in institutional practice. The session introduces the wider European policy and funding context, including alliances, the ERA, and current debates on future collaboration models under the next MFF. It then turns to collaboration in practice, focusing on institutional logics, consortium dynamics, and the boundary-spanning competences needed to navigate complex partnerships. A third part addresses the researcher perspective through collaboration maturity, stewardship, and the FORTHEM Researcher Development Progression Matrix. The training also highlights the long-term strategic value of alliances as enabling environments for innovation and capability building. Finally we look at relevant funding schemes and practical guidance on project design.
